Tony is a distinguished leader in the renewable energy and IT sectors, recognized for his transformative approach and strategic innovation. Partner Bio

Tony Breach, serving as Chief Executive Officer & Chief Technology Officer at WeStorix, exemplifies transformative leadership in the renewable energy and IT sectors. With over 25 years of industry experience, Tony has become renowned for his strategic prowess and ability to navigate complex technological landscapes. His leadership journey began with foundational roles in utility and IT industries, where he excelled in orchestrating intricate programs and integrating cutting-edge technologies with pragmatic management.

As the visionary founder of WeStorix, Tony has adeptly steered the company from its inception through to a promising successful Grid Scale BESS developer and Service Provider of Energy Storage as a Service.

He has demonstrated a profound understanding of high-voltage Grid Forming Inverters and Energy Storage Systems and how to utilize that as a replacement for medium size power plants and enhance power optimization for large energy consumers. This strategic positioning has not only placed WeStorix at the forefront of the renewable energy transition but has also heralded a new era of clean, responsible, and sustainable energy storage.

Tony’s role as principal consultant for a top global renewable utility provider underscores his critical influence in the industry. He jointly led the procurement and implementation of an Energy Management System (EMS) capable of managing over 4 GW of renewable assets across the U.S. East Coast, choosing one of the largest high-voltage suppliers to facilitate this venture. His leadership was pivotal in establishing a U.S.-based control center that serves as the operational hub for the EMS, cultivating a strong partnership with the supplier.

Further demonstrating his expertise, Tony served as the principal electrical consultant for a Danish 400 MW Power-To-X (PtX) project, the largest of its kind at the time. He was central to the design of a 400 MW substation and a BESS facility, integrating these systems to support the Transmission System Operator grid support. His thorough assessment of vendors and contractors led to a collaboration with a premier high-voltage technology provider, enhancing the project’s success.

The strategic initiatives at WeStorix are deeply influenced by Tony’s extensive experience from these landmark projects – the 4 GW Control Center and the 400 MW Substation with BESS. His early academic work, particularly his influential 1996 thesis on High-Voltage Grid Forming Power Inverters, laid the technological groundwork for today’s grid-forming inverters, highlighting his long-standing impact on the industry.

As Program Director for a major European Commission initiative, Tony exhibited exceptional leadership, managing diverse R&D projects across 16 European entities. His strategic and multidisciplinary approach has significantly advanced technology and fostered collaborative success.

A dynamic executive with sharp political insight and superior stakeholder management skills, Tony’s demanding yet respected leadership style is crucial for securing investment and achieving project objectives. His extensive network and strategic partnerships in the Utility and Telecommunications sectors, combined with his educational background – a M.Sc. in Electromechanical Engineering and a B.Sc. in Software & Electronics – underscore his comprehensive expertise and visionary leadership. Tony Breach continues to drive WeStorix forward, championing the integration of renewable energy solutions with advanced digital infrastructures, and making substantial contributions to the sustainable energy landscape.
