Feedback on the European Grids Package Consultation
#WeStorix STATUS: 8th August 2025
On Augst 4, 2025, WeStorix submitted Feedback on the European Grids Package Consultation in response to the European Commission’s call for evidence on the upcoming European Grids Package (initiative 14672):
WeStorix welcomes the opportunity to contribute to the European Commission’s initiative to shape a modern, flexible, and inclusive energy infrastructure through the European Grids Package. As a creator of the Green Power Station concept, WeStorix develops and operates grid-connected Energy Campus that combines a Green Power station with integrated battery energy storage system (BESS), renewables, and large commercial & industrial (C&I) consumers into a unified infrastructure through dedicated back-feed connections, enabling a decentralized, grid-connected Energy Campus.
We see this as the missing link in the green transition – a strategic bridge between the national grid, local renewable production, and local large energy consumers. This setup enhances grid flexibility and resiliency, while enabling real-time balancing and optimization of the grid, local energy production and consumption – accelerating electrification and decarbonization. It unlocks value across the entire electrical ecosystem by aligning supply, demand, and storage – creating a resilient and economically viable path to full decarbonization.
WeStorix directly supports the EU’s strategic priorities, including those outlined in the Clean Industrial Deal, by empowering energy-intensive industries to decarbonise through reliable, flexible, and locally optimised energy use. In doing so, we strengthen energy security, enhances resilience against cyberattacks, and accelerates the green transition: delivering a greener tomorrow – today!
Mario Draghi’s report “The Future of European Competitiveness” addresses electrical infrastructure and energy system security as critical components of Europe’s future competitiveness, further places electrical infrastructure and its security at the heart of Europe’s competitiveness and sovereignty strategy – not just as a technical issue, but as a geostrategic imperative.
In its May 2025 consultation launch, the Commission warned that without timely investment in grid expansion, modernisation, digitalisation, and flexibility, connection delays will increase and electrification will stall – putting 2030 targets at risk. Our on-the-ground experience confirms this risk profile.
WESTORIX WILL BE POSTING THE ATTACHED DIRECT RESPONSE AND RECOMMNEDATIONS IN THE FOLLOWING ORDER:
- Multiple Grid Connections Should Be Allowed by Design – Not Exception
- Enable Energy Communities for Industrial and Commercial Participants
- Define Energy Storage Systems as a Standalone Asset Class
- Reform Investment Models to Reflect Post-Subsidy Market Realities
- Grid Connection Is a Major Bottleneck
- Permitting Must Be Shorter, Simpler, and Predictable
- Digitalisation, Data Access and Cyber Resilience
- Recognise and Reward Flexibility Services
- WeStorix’s recommendations.
